so like as always i must say love urself and seek art from outside the Teen Boy genre, BUT ALSO..........this idea that well, of course shounen doesnt have a lot of women, its for boys, is so strange, because plenty of media whos primary demographic is women.......also has plenty of men!

like why are we letting boys and men get away with not being interested in women, like, at all? i think most women i know actually can and do find themselves compelled by, interested in, and attached to male characters literally all the time. but men cant do this for women?

i mean, kill la kill is right there. it's a shounen pretty much entirely consisting of women, and its universally loved and critically acclaimed. but also, exception and not the rule, right? but the problem is exactly what im fucking bitching about here: men, and so to a larger extent society in general, cant see women as Literally Just People Equal in Status and Interiority and Interest to Men. theyre a special kind of people that only some people can connect with, while men are a universal constant. The Everyman.

so like. yeah. stop reading shounen, but also start asking yourself WHY do we keep giving a free pass to men for literally not being able to see themselves in or relate to female protagonists?????????
