Self-hoster who is very happy with wp-discourse, using Discourse as a comment system for a self-hosted Wordpress instance.
Occasionally, a user makes a comment that I would prefer not be shown on the main site, usually because even though the post meets the criteria for automatic visibility on WP, its contents are divisive or otherwise not aligned with the topic of the Wordpress post.
It would be neat if I could apply a tag to the post on the Discourse side, and that tag could be keyed on by wp-discourse such that posts with that tag are never pulled over to Wordpress and never displayed in the WP post’s comment area (similar to how tl0 posts are handled by default).

Hey Lee, thanks for the feature request, let’s explore the idea a bit. Tags are a topic-level taxonomy. Is there perhaps a post-level signal that lines up with what you’re describing? The inverse version of this is the existing “Only Import Moderator-Liked” setting, which performs a similar kind of role, but is inclusive rather than exclusive. I think we’d need an equivalent signal (i.e. likes) to implement an exclusionary (i.e. filter out this specific post) feature like this. Thoughts?

Hey @angus, apologies for the long delay in responding, and you’re absolutely right about tags—I should have given that some more thought before posting.
Ideally, whatever signal it is would be transparent to regular readers. That seems to discount emojis. A staff note or something would fit the bill, but that seems really clunky. And bolting a custom field onto posts is…not something I want to do.
Probably best to put a pin in this for now until/unless Discourse extends tagging to individual posts. (Some searching with ask.discourse did not yield very encouraging results there, unfortunately.)
