The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro has won the Category Award under Gaming & Immersive Tech as per the Computex page.
ASUS has just prepared the world's first WiFi 8 router, as appeared on the Computex website. With this innovation, ASUS is moving closer to commercializing the next-generation WiFi 8 networking as the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro has been listed as the Best Choice Award Winner under the Gaming & Immersive Tech category.
According to the Computex Award listing, the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro introduces WiFi 8 along with Multi-AP coordination architecture, intelligent path optimization, dynamic bandwidth management, and a patented thermal design. The router has been crafted for low latency, high stability, and sustained performance in dense connection environments.
WiFi 8 isn't bringing any improvements in the bandwidth, and while it will have the same maximum bandwidth throughput of 23 Gbps as WiFi 7, it will focus more on reliability. If you remember, ASUS previously showcased its ROG NeoCore WiFi 8 concept router, which was introduced at the CES 2026 event.
This prototype was used to highlight the company's first real-world WiFi 8 performance testing, which ASUS claimed to offer 2X higher mid-range throughput, 2x Wider IoT coverage, and up to 6x lower P99 latency compared to WiFi 7, thanks to the smarter multi-AP and multi-client operation. Unlike the previous WiFi generations, WiFi 8 is being introduced as a more stable, responsive, and reliable solution for handling multiple devices.
The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro is particularly a solid solution for enthusiast gaming, offering advanced spectrum management and multi-link transmission for maximizing the bandwidth efficiency and reducing the latency, which helps in competitive gaming. Through ROG gaming acceleration, the router can allow gaming traffic to be prioritized to reduce lag and congestion. The GT-BN98 Pro also includes 10 Gbps wired ports, making it ideal for NAS setups, workstations, and small-office networks as well.
