Defense officials said the plan introduces a new spending category labeled “presidential priorities,” which includes Golden Dome missile defense, artificial intelligence, data systems, drone programs and investments aimed at strengthening the U.S. defense industrial base, Reuters reported.
“If they want to go to the war, in this case also Iran is ready for that,” he told reporters at U.N. headquarters in New York, though he added, “We should give the chance—we hope.”
U.S. officials are also looking for a “clear signal” that Iran’s negotiators have been fully empowered to reach an agreement, while the Pentagon has been reviewing military options should Trump conclude that Tehran is not negotiating in good faith.
