Disney, Pixar hoping for classic Toy Story numbers. (0:16) Rockstar opens Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders. (1:24) Google AI leader departs to join OpenAI. (2:31)

This is an abridged transcript of the podcast:

Our toy story so far, Disney (DIS) and Pixar's "Toy Story 5" is expected to dominate the long-weekend box office.

More than a decade after "Toy Story 4," the fifth installment arrives with a rare combination of multi-generational appeal, family demand as schools let out, and Disney's marketing machine in full summer mode.

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, while Taylor Swift contributes a new song, "I Knew It, I Knew You," to the soundtrack.

The question isn't whether "Toy Story 5" takes the top spot, but how it stacks up against previous entries in the franchise, including the $120M opening weekend of "Toy Story 4."

Most competing releases, including "Disclosure Day," "Obsession," "Scary Movie" and "Masters of the Universe," are already in later stages of their theatrical runs and are expected to play supporting roles over the holiday weekend.

Some forecasts call for a $145M to $150M domestic debut across 4,400 screens. Internationally, the film is expected to generate another $135M or more, putting the global opening north of $280M.

A breakout debut would reinforce the view that top-tier family franchises remain among Hollywood's safest big-budget bets, even as audiences have shown signs of sequel fatigue elsewhere.

Among active stocks, Take-Two Interactive's (TTWO) Rockstar Games said pre-orders for "Grand Theft Auto VI" will begin June 25 across digital storefronts and select retailers.

The move comes ahead of the game's Nov. 19 launch date, which was pushed back after several high-profile delays.

Kroger (KR) is lower after posting mixed first-quarter results.

Adjusted EPS came in at $1.58 versus the $1.59 consensus estimate. Revenue rose 2.2% from a year ago to $46.1B, while same-store sales growth of 1% matched expectations.

Accenture (ACN) is tumbling after fiscal third-quarter revenue and its fourth-quarter outlook both missed estimates.

And Intel (INTC) is leading S&P gainers after President Trump announced a partnership with Apple (AAPL) to design and manufacture chips domestically.

Looking to trading, the greenback is rallying following the hawkish debut of Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh.

The dollar index (DXY) has climbed to its highest level since May 2025.

Société Générale Chief U.S. Economist Jan Groen said the bank continues to favor fading dollar weakness, arguing that the resilience of the U.S. economy should support the currency and help preserve favorable interest-rate differentials over time.

And in other news of note, Google's (GOOG) (GOOGL) vice president of engineering and Gemini AI co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving the company to join OpenAI (OPENAI).

The surprise departure comes less than two years after Google reportedly paid $2.7B to bring Shazeer — the former head of Character.AI — back to the company along with a team of researchers.

Google appointed Shazeer to co-lead development of the Gemini AI model in 2024, and he has been credited as a key figure in helping Gemini close the gap with ChatGPT.
