With one week until the primary election, producer and podcaster Jamie Patricof and political strategist Mathew Littman plan to host what may be a final candidates’ forum for those seeking city, congressional and statewide office.

The Zoom forum, to start at noon PT on Tuesday, will feature mayoral candidates Karen Bass, Nithya Raman and Adam Miller. Also scheduled are Michael Tubbs and Josh Fryday, candidates for lieutenant governor; Falizah Malik, candidate for City Council; Jake Levine and Esther Kim Varet, congressional candidates; and Zach Sokoloff, city controller candidate.

Each contender will get 10 minutes, with three to five minutes of rapid fire questions from Patricof and Littman. Each candidate will be asked the same opening question: “In 60 seconds or less, this is one of your last chances to make your case to voters. What’s the single reason someone should vote for you?”

Patricof hosts the podcast Lunch with Jamie. Littman is a principal in the firm HowLitt.

The audience will be of subscribers to Jamie’s List, with signups here to register. The recording will be released as a special edition of the post later in the week.

Patricof noted that the primary is happening just as Los Angeles and California will be on the world stage with events like the World Cup and the Olympics.

“Yet we’re staring down major issues — homelessness, affordability, public safety — that need to be addressed immediately,” he said in a statement. “But because we’re overwhelmed by memes, clickbait, and TikTok clips, we have an election one week away where we still don’t know what these candidates are going to do to get us on track. The goal with this forum was to create a place to cut through the noise and get specific answers on why they are the right choices.”
