Just In Time, the Broadway musical about ‘Mack the Knife’ singer Bobby Darin currently starring Jeremy Jordan, has recouped its $12.5 million capitalization, producers announced today.
The production becomes the first Broadway musical of the 2024-2025 season to recoup its investment, and just the fourth show to recoup this season (following the plays Every Brilliant Thing, Waiting for Godot and Art).
“We are deeply grateful to everyone involved in the creation of Just In Time,” said producers Tom Kirdahy and Robert Ahrens. “From our first preview we witnessed firsthand the electrifying audience response to our immersive Broadway show. Just In Time delivers joy to audiences nightly. Bobby Darin lived an extraordinary life and created magic every time he stepped on stage. It continues to be a privilege to tell his story as we enter our second year on Broadway.”
The musical began performances at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre, with Jonathan Groff in the lead role, on Monday, March 31, 2025, and opened Saturday, April 26, that year. Though grosses have dipped after Groff’s big-ticket run, the musical continues to sell out the venue, most recently taking $838,055 for the Broadway week ending May 10.
Just In Time, which includes such Darin hits as “Beyond the Sea,” “Mack the Knife,” “Splish Splash” and “Dream Lover,” will launch a North American Tour in June 2027. Tour stops are now announced for next summer with more to be added early next year. Casting for the tour hasn’t been announced.
The musical, developed and directed by Alex Timbers, features a book by Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver, based on an original concept by Ted Chapin.
