The terrifying story of how Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week in 2016 is being made into a Canal+ doc series.

The Au Pair and Missed Call maker Pernel Media is producing Kim, The Diamond, And The Grandpa Robbers for French pay-TV giant Canal+. The four-part series will follow the story of how robbers found their way into Kardashian’s private residence and pulled off a multimillion dollar heist.

Though the story became a global headline within hours of the crime happening, the series promises it will pull back “the curtain on one of the decade’s boldest celebrity heists, drawing on rare and exclusive access to those at its centre – including members of the gang and the lawyers who defended them.”

Notably, it will retell the case asthe story of a hyper-public celebrity and a group of veteran criminals attempting one final score. Contrary to the narrative of a chaotic, opportunistic crime, Kim, The Diamond, And The Grandpa Robbers will build a picture of a carefully-planned operation shaped by insider knowledge that spiralled out of control. Though the robbers knew the value of the diamond they were stealing, they did not factor in the scale of the world they were entering.

“With roots in France and one of the most famous names in the world, this premium pop crime series sits very much within the DNA of the international productions that we at Pernel Media love to put together – combining strong storytelling with projects designed to travel,” said Pernel founder and Kim executive producer Samuel Kissous.

He is the executive producer alongside Fabrice Frank, and the creative producer is Clément Roquigny. Agnès Buthion is the director. An international version is in production, with delivery scheduled for early 2027.

“What makes this project unique is the access and the perspective – hearing directly from those involved allows us to move beyond the story the world thinks it understands and build a much more immersive, character driven account,” added Frank. “It’s about reconstructing the story in a way that feels both authentic and cinematic.”
