
























Days after he said that he would go forward with a performance at a Trump-backed Freedom 250 event this month, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli said that he, too, is backing out.
Morvan told CNN that after he was told by his team that “there’s no political alignment” and that it was “just a free show for the people,” he felt that the attention to the event had “turned into a circus.”
“I’m not into politics,” he said, adding, “I know how stories can be distorted…I was in the middle of several storms, and I know what it feels like. So I think it’s time for me to get away from the storm and keep it simple.”

Freedom 250 last week announced a lineup of musical acts to perform at a Great American State Fair event on the National Mall, tied to plans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. But soon after, Young MC and Morris Day announced that they would not perform, even though they were on the bill. Martina McBride, Bret Michaels and The Commodores also canceled. Vanilla Ice has said that he is sticking with the plans to perform, Flo Rida and C+C Music Factory have not weighed in on whether they are definites.
The Real Milli Vanilli, the German vocalist group that the duo Milli Vanilli infamously lip-synced and danced to at performances, noted last week that they “will NOT be performing” at the event. Morvan had said last week, “Looking forward to reconnecting with you across the USA this summer and to finally sing Milli Vanilli songs live in person!”
Over the weekend, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he was thinking of holding a rally “to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists.'”
A decade ago, Congress designated the United States Semiquincentennial Commission to organize 250th anniversary events this year. But the Trump administration established its own group, Freedom 250, to hold events, using public and private resources.
