EXCLUSIVE: In a highly competitive situation, Sony Pictures has landed a feature pitch titled Holiday Inn from writers Ben Zazove and Evan Turner.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is described as a four-quadrant family movie. No word yet on who will be producing.
Writers Zazove and Turner are behind Officer Exchange, an action-comedy in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with The Safran Company producing and John Cena attached to star. They also wrote the Ferris Bueller spinoff Sam & Victor’s Day Off for Paramount, were tapped to pen a Space Invaders film based on the Taito arcade game for New Line, and wrote a script based on the video game Duke Nukem for Legendary.
Zazove and Turner’s previous film, The Out-Laws — an action-comedy starring Adam Devine, Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin — debuted at #1 on Netflix. Zazove is also known for his work on the Paramount animated feature Sherlock Gnomes.
Both scribes are repped by Verve, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, and McKuin, Frankel & Whitehead.
