House of the Dragon has returned, and so far the Season 3 audience is roughly on par with its predecessor.

The Season 3 premiere had attracted 21.5M global viewers in the first three days across HBO and HBO Max, Warner Bros. Discovery said Thursday.

That’s down about 8% from Season 2’s 23.4M viewers in three days, but it’s still a strong enough audience retention for the season debut. A decline was somewhat expected given that the show (as many do) also lost viewers between Seasons 1 and 2.

Speaking of, WBD says that weekly viewership for Season 2 tripled leading into Sunday night’s Season 3 premiere, indicating there are some re-watchers and likely a few new eyes on the series.

Season 2 debuted to 7.8M viewers on its first day of availability, down from 10M for Season 1. Also, per WBD, Season 1 episodes are now averaging 92.2M lifetime viewers.

The eight-episode season will debut new episodes weekly on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max leading up to the season finale on August 9.
