Amazon is taking center stage at this year’s RTS London and will chair the bi-annual convention, with international chief Kelly Day set to keynote.

Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios have been named principal sponsor of the storied event for the first time and Tara Erer, Head of Northern European Originals, will chair.

Joining Day in the first tranche of speakers is new Channel 4 CEO Priya Dogra, ITV boss Carolyn McCall and Reemah Sakaan, who has just taken over at Paramount UK network 5 (previously Channel 5).

Titled United in Change: If Not Now, When?, the convention will focus on the need for collaboration and decisive action across the media and television industry.

Jane Turton, Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Royal Television Society (RTS), said: “To succeed in television we need to adapt, to adjust and always to remain responsive and agile. Sometimes leading an audience towards a new piece of IP or talent and sometimes responding to an audience’s changing demands. The theme of this year’s RTS London Convention, United in Change: If Not Now, When? reflects the pace of transformation across our sector and that fact that we are all working together in the face of many changes to shape a successful television sector of the future.”

Erer added: “Chairing RTS London this year feels like a genuine privilege and a true responsibility. United in Change isn’t just a theme, it’s a challenge. Our industry is at an inflection point, and this Convention is our moment to be loud, brave and unapologetically ambitious about the future we want to build together for our extraordinary industry. As Prime Video continues to cement its place at the heart of the UK industry, there couldn’t be a better moment to be a steward for the change we all want to see.”

The fest takes place September 29. Last year’s RTS Cambridge (the fest moves between Cambridge and London each year) was chaired by the BBC and featured the likes of David Tennnat, Jeff Zucker and Lisa Nandy.
