As The Boys comes to an end, one Homelander fan is not pleased with the Prime Video show’s series finale.
Following the release of the episode ‘Blood and Bone’, Elon Musk took to X to criticize the show as “pathetic” after the show’s big bad is stripped of his powers and left begging for his life.
Series creator Eric Kripke took the one-word review as a badge of honor. “OMG this is his review of what @TheBoysTV did to Homelander, I’ll never get a better review ever,” he wrote, reposting Musk’s tweet.
Surprisingly, Musk had nothing to say about a character introduced as ‘The Disruptor’ in the finale, a rich mogul with an affinity for space, white fertility rates and black-on-black embroidered baseball caps (“Dark MAGA” much?), whom Homelander (Antony Starr) disposes of mid-orbit.
“He’s an astronaut, I took him to space,” says Homelander after quickly returning to Earth.
When asked about the apparent Musk nod in the finale, Kripke jokingly told Deadline, “What made you think it was Elon Musk? Yeah, I mean, the idea of like the Disruptor was a character that has been continually pitched throughout the season, as just something that is really existing in the world that was just such a perfect target, and it never really fit before.
“But then we needed this one scene to prove where Homelander’s head was at for this final episode, and so David Reed, who co-wrote the episode with Judalina Neira, said, ‘Well, let’s bring in the Disruptor,'” he explained. “And so, it was just a short little bit, but just one last little satirical target before end the show.”
In addition to taking aim at the former DOGE boss, Kripke has accidentally predicted several Trump moments in the final season of The Boys, all episodes of which are now available to stream on Prime.
