




























EXCLUSIVE: Former Fremantle exec Shirley Bowers has joined The Jim Henson Company as VP of Global Distribution, we’ve learned.
The hires puts her in charge of content sales an distribution and driving revenue from the Henson catalog, which includes the likes of Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid and Fraggle Rock. She’ll also develop international co-production partnerships.
Based in LA, Bowers will report into Chris Lytton, President and COO of Jim Henson, who confirmed her appointment today.
“Shirley’s experience within the dynamic landscape of content distribution makes her a nimble leader, able to develop innovative content distribution ideas, embrace unique opportunities presented by emerging technologies, and identify potential partnerships,” said Lytton. “She has a proven track record of working with respected properties that can respond to emerging trends while maintaining a deep connection to their brand value.”
Bowers has worked in sales, co-productions, co-financing and acquisitions for more than 20 years. Prior to joining Jim Henson, she was Senior VP, U.S. Sales & Distribution at Fremantle before exiting in October last year, as we revealed at the time.
Further back, she has held roles at Red Arrow Studios International (now Seven.One Studios International). Prior to that, she worked in distribution for Fox International Channels and Nat Geo.
Jim Henson’s most recent credits include upcoming Amazon Kids+ series Jim Henson’s Monster Dance, PBS Kids special Wowsabout, Apple TV holiday special The First Snow of Fraggle Rock, and the Emmy-nominated Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip for Disney+, along with Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio for Netflix, and Emmy winner Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock for Apple TV.
