As Hacks takes its final bow on HBO Max this week, the cast and creators are bidding a heartfelt farewell to the 5x Golden Globe-winning comedy drama.

On Sunday, Ava Daniels star Hannah Einbinder expressed her appreciation for series creators Paul W. Downs, Jen Statsky and Lucia Aniello, explaining how the show has “made everything in my life possible” after its five-season run began in 2021.

“I love this picture,” she captioned a photo of the four of them. “It’s a good representation of how we feel about each other, and of the support and love Paul, Jen, and Lucia have always shown me. I had no acting experience when I started on Hacks (sorry) – but I think the reason I could do the job was because the character they created in Ava was so real. I remember reading the audition scene and thinking damn. I wanna chill with her. She would be my best friend for sure. As I came to get to know Paul, Jen and Lucia, I realized that the qualities I loved in Ava were qualities of theirs. They’re passionate and fiercely loyal, goofy as hell, and their hearts bleed for the people they love.”

Einbinder continued, “Hacks is about the love you share with your comedic collaborators. I feel like the luckiest person on Earth to have been a part of it, and even luckier to get to share that connection with Paul, Jen and Lucia. Hacks has made everything in my life possible. It has given me the ability to tour and put out a standup special, it has made me an actor- a medium I cherish and love so deeply, it has fulfilled me creatively and given me a great big family of cherished people. I’m so proud of what we’ve done, and how we did it. My gratitude to these three is eternal. I love you @luciaaniellosetfits @jenstatsky @paulwdowns. Thank you for my life.”

Downs, who plays Jimmy LuSaque Jr. in addition to his co-showrunning duties, shared a tribute of his own as he recalled coming up with the pilot in Paris with Statsky and Aniello, coincidentally on the same street they filmed this week’s finale.

“In 2019, Jen, Lucia and I decided to get an Airbnb in Paris to write the pilot of Hacks,” he recounted in a post. “We laughed a lot. 7 years later we went back to shoot the finale. On our last day I was getting nostalgic and looked back at the photos of our first trip. I stumbled upon the address of that apartment (slide 11) and when looked up I realized we were filming on the same street (14,15) completely by coincidence, blocks away from where it all began.

“Not sure what that means but… ‘through that randomness we can totally receive meaning,'” added Downs.

Debuting on HBO Max in 2021, the Hacks finale will hit the platform on May 28.
