Marking its milestone 50th edition, Frameline (the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival) has set its closing night film.

Fresh off its Cannes world premiere last night, Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma will close out the 2026 edition of the film festival, taking place June 17-27, with writer and director Jane Schoenbrun receiving the Frameline Queer Lens Award for Filmmaking before the film screens at the Castro Theatre, where star Hannah Einbinder will also be in attendance.

Schoenbrun’s third feature, Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma stars Einbinder as an enthusiastic young director who is tasked with resurrecting the Camp Miasma slasher franchise after years of subpar sequels and declining fandom. But when she visits the original’s star (Gillian Anderson), a now-reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women become entangled a blood-soaked world of desire, fear and delirium.

“Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a truly staggering achievement in filmmaking — one that could only be shaped by the singular Jane Schoenbrun,” said Kate Bove, Frameline’s associate director of programs, in a statement. “Jane and their work reflect so much of what makes queer and trans cinema so vital: An uncompromising vision, a celebration of collaboration, and the desire to give voice to experiences that feel at once achingly familiar and startlingly unspoken. We’re honored to present Jane with the Frameline Queer Lens Award, and can think of no better venue to do so than the Closing Night of the world’s first LGBTQ+ film festival to reach its half-century milestone.”

Premiering Aug. 7 in theaters via Mubi, Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma marks Schoenbrun’s third film after We’re All Going to the World’s Fair (2021) and I Saw the TV Glow (2024).

Frameline50 previously announced 11 days of programming, featuring 140 films from 35 countries, opening June 17 with D’Arcy Drollinger’s Lady Champagne, and featuring Brydie O’Connor’s Barbara Forever as the centerpiece film.
