Whitney Leavitt is revealing more details about her decision to exit The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

As we previously reported, Leavitt announced she would be leaving the Hulu reality series Sunday during her final performance in Broadway’s Chicago.

In a May 5 video on her Instagram, Leavitt shared her thoughts about leaving the series, and confirmed that Season 5 will be her last. “I am leaving with gratitude,” she said.

“It’s honestly so crazy to me looking back on this journey because I had been trying to get into theater and film way before Secret Lives even came into my life,” she revealed, saying that the reality show “fell into my life organically and I said yes to it,” adding ‘it’s definitely not been the path I had envisioned in my mind to get to where I am today,” but asserted she “wouldn’t change a thing.”

She went on to express her gratitude to her fellow cast members. “I have experience so much with this group of women,” she shared. ‘We have been through so much together,” and, in the proces, said she has “learned so much about myself.”

“We’ve had really big highs, really big lows and no matter what happens with our relationships, that is something that will always be a part of our life, will always be a part of my life and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Leavitt has been one of the main stars of the Emmy-nominated reality show, which follows a group of Mormon mom-influencers who contend with a sex scandal that disrupts their faith, friendships and reputations.

The show, which debuted in September 2024, paused production recently after fellow main cast member Taylor Frankie Paul faced claims of domestic violence. Charges against Paul were dropped last month. The Disney streamer announced it will resume filming on Season 5, though it did not specify when that will be.

Leavitt has made no secret of her acting ambitions, so it is relatively unsurprising that she is leaving Mormon Wives. Last season, she revealed that she only returned to the show so that she could have the opportunity to appear on Dancing with the Stars.

She’ll soon make her feature debut as executive producer and star of All for Love (wt), a holiday rom-com produced by The Ninth House (Lifetime’s Forever).
