EXCLUSIVE: Good American Family creator Katie Robbins has signed an overall deal with 20th Television, the studio behind the Hulu limited series starring Ellen Pompeo.

Under the pact with 20th TV, a part of Disney Television Studios, Robbins will develop, write and produce series for all linear networks and streamers, with an emphasis on platforms across Disney Entertainment Television.

Robbins already has her next project for 20th TV lined up — dramedy Chicks starring Pompeo, which was given a pilot order by Hulu earlier this month.

“Katie is an extraordinarily talented writer who has the rare ability to tell uniquely specific, deeply human and universal stories, populated by characters that linger long after a final episode airs,” Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, said. “We have been privileged to see firsthand what she is capable of with last year’s hit limited series Good American Family, and are thrilled that she will call our studio her new creative home.”

Developed by Robbin specifically for Pompeo, Chicks follows Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen, two estranged half-sisters who are both struggling to get by when their wise guy dad unexpectedly kicks the bucket. Their only inheritance is a legacy of two-bit crime that inspires them to run increasingly audacious frauds. As their con grows, so does their odd-couple bond, as they each start to fill the father-shaped hole in the other’s heart.

“To get to tell stories for a living is already an impossibly great gift, but to have found a creative home that values my voice and vision, where my partners push my work to be the best version of itself, is total jackpot territory,” Robbins said. “I’m so wildly grateful to Craig, Karey, Carolyn, and the rest of the 20th team for their belief in me, for their collaboration, for their kindness, for their trust.
