What is Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day about?
The film marks a return to the genre for the director of E.T.: The Extraterrestrial (1982) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). As can be seen in the multiple trailers, O’Connor’s character has access to classified government intelligence about beings who exist beyond planet Earth. A major sign of them is shown through Emily Blunt’s weather woman being overcome by some sort of force and making clicking sounds in front of the camera.
Firth’s character hopes to stop O’Connor’s from disclosing these secrets to the whole world. In the race between sides, animals and nuns seem in on what is happening around the world.
Who else is behind Disclosure Day?
Directed by Spielberg, Disclosure Day is his latest film following the semi-autobiographical The Fabelmans (2022). Spielberg conceived the story with his longtime collaborator David Koepp, who wrote the screenplay. Spielberg also produces alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger under their Amblin Entertainment banner. The score is by John Williams, who has also worked with Spielberg on several of the director’s previous films like Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) Jurassic Park (1993), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and many more.
Is there a trailer for Disclosure Day?
Yes, several trailers have been released for the film, the first arriving in December 2025 along with news of the title. One was released for the Super Bowl 2026 trailer blitz, and a third clip came out in March 2026.
The fourth and final trailer includes snippets from Spielberg, himself. In one he offers, “I am much more inclined now than when I made Close Encounters to say that we are not the only intelligent life in the universe.”
