EXCLUSIVE: Harry Melling (Pillion), Adam Nagaitis (Star City), and Aminah Nieves (1923) have landed roles alongside Mahershala Ali in the second season of HBO‘s lauded crime drama Task.
Melling will play Brennan Boylan, a powder-keg DEA agent, with Nagaitis as the loyal and unflappable DEA agent, Luke Clemmons. Nieves plays Nataly Zamora, a no-nonsense FBI agent and dedicated young mother who fights hard to protect the community that raised her.
As previously announced, Ali plays Eddie Barnes, a seasoned and well-respected DEA agent in Philadelphia whose team comes into conflict with the unit of Tom Brandis, played by Mark Ruffalo, who headlined Season 1 opposite Tom Pelphrey.
The first season of Task found Ruffalo’s Brandis forming a task force to track down a crew of masked robbers, led by a working-class family man, that were carrying out a series of violent crimes in the Philadelphia area. In Season 2, Brandis takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target.
Task is created by Brad Ingelsby, who returned to HBO following his work on its Emmy-winning crime drama Mare of Easttown. Ingelsby is also writing, showrunning, and exec producing alongside Paul Lee and Mark Roybal for wiip, Jeremiah Zagar, Ruffalo, and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Karen Wacker are co-executive producers.
The show is one of the buzziest series in recent memory and has already made a mark on the awards circuit, with numerous Critics’ Choice Award nominations, along with multiple WGA Award nominations, and a Golden Globe nom recognizing Ruffalo’s performance.
Melling is an English actor coming off an award-winning lead role opposite Alexander Skarsgård in A24’s lauded BDSM-themed film Pillion. He returned to Cannes last week in the Director’s Fortnight entry Butterfly Jam, where he stars opposite Barry Keoghan and Riley Keough, and next stars alongside Jodie Comer in the musical drama Stuffed, the directorial debut of filmmaker Theo Rhys. He is represented by CAA, Sophie Holden at Curtis Brown Group, and Lucy Popkin at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
Nagaitis has been seen in series like Chernobyl, The Terror and The Agency, along with films like Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel. Next up for him is Star City, Apple TV’s spin-off of the space race series For All Mankind, which premieres on May 29. He is repped by Independent Talent Group.
Recently seen in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923, as well as Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite, Nieves is repped by Gersh, M88, and Del Shaw Moonves.
