Actor Taye Diggs and partners Autumn Federici, Shelby Stone, James Black, and Troy Brookins on Thursday announced the launch of Microhouse Films, a mobile-first vertical storytelling platform putting distribution in the hands of filmmakers, which is set to launch this spring.

Developed to support the next generation of vertical series, Microhouse Films will enable creators to produce, distribute and monetize their work within a single platform.

Diggs said of the endeavor, “When we thought about how to meaningfully impact the vertical space, we immediately focused on the creators and storytellers whose livelihoods depend on where this industry is headed. Microhouse Films is about creating a model that supports them in this next phase and allows them to keep telling stories that move us.”

Microhouse Films will have no subscription fee and require no fee to upload or host content. Through an ad-free model, filmmakers can choose which episodes to offer for free and which to place behind a token-based system, retaining control over pricing, release strategy, and revenue.

Microhouse will integrate built-in discovery tools, including trope tags, allowing creators to assign their own genre. The platform will also include promotional capabilities, such as a shareable, branded landing page generated for each series.

News of Microhouse comes following the collaboration between Diggs, Brookins, Stone and Federici on the microdrama Tides of Temptation, starring Swag Boy Q — an offshoot and world expansion for Lifetime’s Terry McMillan Presents: Paradise With You, starring Diggs.
