EXCLUSIVE: Switchboard Magazine, a platform that combines documentary and live-action shorts with longform journalism, is teaming up with Hulu.
The company, which was founded by Call Me Cleo and Beanie Mania producer Celia Aniskovich, has struck a first-look deal for its non-fiction work with the Disney streamer.
The deal will give Hulu the first right to develop documentary features, docuseries, and other unscripted projects originated by Switchboard’s editorial team or adapted from the magazine’s reporting.
Switchboard, which was founded in January 2025, has been involved in doc projects including Livestreams with GrandmaPuzzles, Tim Kirkman’s Freeman Vines, Harris Doran and Akbar Hamid’s Poreless, Jared and Carly Jakins’ Rat Rod, and Adam Oppenheim and Samuel-Ali Mirpoorian’s Saving Superman.
On the editorial side, recent pieces includes Mimi Lamarre’s The Smallest Spy In The World, Abby Ellin’s The Miniature Wars of Louisville and Sara Ganim’s The Advocate and the Defender.
“The team at Hulu are some of the best in the business when it comes to non-fiction, and we couldn’t ask for a better collaborator as we build what’s next for Switchboard,” said Celia Aniskovich, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Switchboard Magazine. “Our model depends on partners who care about the story and the storytellers, first — and that’s exactly what we’ve found in Hulu.”
Switchboard is represented by Verve and Jonathan Fischer.
