Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman, Fantastic Four: First Steps) and Lewis Pullman (The Testament of Ann Lee, Thunderbolts*) will star in The Spacesuit, a feature written and directed by Kitty Green (The Assistant).

HanWay Films has boarded for sales, and UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance will represent the pic in North America.

HanWay noted the film comes at “at a moment of renewed global focus on space exploration” following the recent Artemis II mission to the moon. Per the synopsis, it follows an astronaut (Kirby), who is forced to make an impossible decision after an incident with her co-pilot (Pullman) leaves an indelible stain on a mission in the days leading up to lift off, setting off a tense race against the clock.

The pic reunites Green with producers James Schamus (The Wedding Banquet, Brokeback Mountain) and Scott Macaulay (Raising Victor Vargas, Saving Face), with Joe Pirro (We Grown Now, The Wedding Banquet), Rita Walsh (The Wolves Always Come at Night) and Kath Shelper (Samson and Delilah, The Royal Hotel) also producing. Vanessa Kirbyand& Juliet Kirby will executive produce via their production company, Aluna.

Green is known for The Assistant, the Julia Garner-starring feature about sexual harassment in a film production company that debuted at Sundance in 2020. The Australian director followed that up with 2023’s The Royal Hotel, also starring Ozark actress Garner.
