First Lady Melania Trump issued a blistering statement about Jimmy Kimmel, following a scathing faux White House Correspondents’ Dinner monologue he delivered in advance of the event last week.
The first lady posted on X, “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
During his show on Thursday, Kimmel made multiple comments about the first lady, including related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In his fake WHCA dinner monologue, Kimmel acted as if Donald Trump and the first lady were in the room. “Oh, by the way, before we go any further, Melania, this is Donald. Donald, this is Melania. That was my impression of Jeffrey Epstein.”
Another joke has drawn new attention, given the shooting at the dinner on Saturday, forcing the Secret Service to rush the first lady, her husband and other administration officials from the dais and other seats near the stage.
In his parody of the event on Thursday, Kimmel said, “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”
An ABC spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment.
More to come.
