Jackass Seasons 1–3 return to Paramount+ today in restored original versions, a move requested by the show’s creators including Johnny Knoxville.
“In the time since the release of Jackass 26 years ago,” Knoxville said in a statement, “the television episodes had been re-edited, re-sequenced, and re-scored to the point they were unrecognizable. I found this out the hard way last year when attempting to watch them. Eeek! But kudos to Paramount for giving us the $$ to restore the shows to how they initially aired in the first place.”
Knoxville’s statement continued, “We can’t wait until you see all the terrible things we did to each other way back then and in the manner we intended!”
At the request of the Jackass creators (in addition to Knoxville, the series creators include Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze, though neither were specifically named in today’s announcement), Seasons 1-3 were temporarily removed from Paramount+ at the end of 2025 so the production team could revisit and restore key creative elements that had been altered over time.
The refreshed episodes, according to today’s announcement, “reflect the original vision from when the groundbreaking franchise first launched 25 years ago.”
These versions of Seasons 1-3, described as definitive, stream only on Paramount+, and are currently available to U.S. Paramount+ subscribers, with additional regions rolling out in the coming weeks.
The relaunch arrives just ahead of the upcoming Paramount Pictures theatrical release Jackass: Best and Last, hitting theaters June 26.
Jackass became a cultural phenomenon through its outrageous stunts, DIY spirit and unapologetic absurdity.
