Bob and Renee Parsons like to say that as philanthropists, they deal in hope. The founder of GoDaddy, and his wife, a hospitality and apparel executive, make charitable gifts to support causes such as youth, education, health, the military and first responders. In 2013, the couple signed the Giving Pledge to donate at least half of their wealth—which Forbes estimates at $4.1 billion—and they have given away more than $360 million so far.
The couple’s life experiences help shape their philanthropy. For Renee, that means backing women and girls, while Bob prioritizes support for veterans. “Everything I ever accomplished I owe to the Marine Corps,” he says.
Since 2012, The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation has teamed up with Semper Fi & America’s Fund on the Double Down for Veterans Match Campaign, giving $119 million in matching contributions to support wounded and unwell service members and veterans.
Renee Parsons encourages new donors to lead with their hearts. “There's so much need,” she says. “No matter what your passion, you will find organizations to support.”
