Lizzo has finally revealed the real meaning of her Instagram name LizzoBeEating.

A fan of her took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, May 21, posted a screenshot of her Instagram page and wrote that they had been mistaken about its meaning all along, "just found out lizzo’s instagram name is lizzo be eating and not lizzo beating.”

Responding to her fan, the 38-year-old American singer and rapper revealed why she chose the name, scribbling, "Fun Fact: I started my ig as a food blog when I was broke so I could eat for free but then my music blew up.’

For those unaware, Lizzo, who was given the name Melissa Viviane Jefferson at birth, relocated to Houston, Texas, from Detroit, Michigan, along with her family at the age of 10. 

After completing college, she started her recording career in hip-hop in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and dropped her two albums, Lizzobangers in 2013 and Big Grrrl Small World in 2015.

Before her major-label extended play (EP), Coconut Oil, was released in 2016, she signed with Atlantic Records and Nice Life Recording Company.

It is pertinent to mention that Lizzo’s musical career is filled with success and on her 38th birthday in April of this year, she surprised her fans by announcing her new album B****, which will be released on June 5, 2026.
