Keke Palmer has admitted she sometimes takes clothes from film sets, a confession she's made while she promotes her new film I Love Boosters, in which she plays a character involved in shoplifting and reselling fashion items.
When asked if she had any real-life inspiration, Palmer joked, “Cat’s out the bag. I take a lot. I take the warmers all the time. Sorry, guys.”
Her co-stars Naomi Ackie and Taylour Paige then explained that “warmers” are the clothes actors wear between rehearsals before costumes are used on camera. Palmer said the items are usually comfortable clothing provided on set.
“It got cold,” recalls Paige, 35, on the set of I Love Boosters, which filmed in Oakland, Calif., where its story is set, and Atlanta.
Palmer then listed her take-home items as "hoodies, Uggs, sweatpants." She added, “I sometimes even go home with them. I told my truth. And I'm sticking with it.”
She explained that it happened because filming days can get cold and long.
Ackie also said she took something from set, mentioning small rubber toys left around by the director. She joked that she “stole one,” though she was not fully sure if the items were meant to be there.
They also described the filming environment as fun and full of emotional conversations. Paige said there were “delirious talks” during downtime. She also joked about laughing so hard while pregnant that she “peed on myself a couple times.”
Set for a theatrical release on May 22, I Love Boosters will also star LaKeith Stanfield, Eiza González, Will Poulter, Demi Moore, and Don Cheadle.
