Search for “best open-world games masterpieces” on Google today, and the first result is often an AI-generated summary. For many users, that overview is enough. The shift hints at a broader change already underway: people are relying less on traditional guides and more on AI-generated answers.

That same shift could soon reach gaming itself, where players may no longer need to leave a game to look up help.

Google’s latest announcements, including Gemini Omni and Gemini Spark, point in that direction. Announced during Google I/O 2026, Omni is designed to generate content across formats, processing text, images, audio, and video together. Google says it blends reasoning with creation, allowing users to generate and edit videos through simple prompts.

On the other hand, Spark is described as a "24/7 personal AI agent" designed to handle various tasks. The addition of Project Astra allows integrating various data sources into one cohesive understanding, meaning that this technology might result in not only reacting but also observing and assisting in the process.

As far as its applications are concerned, the technology might change the way people use and play video games in the future. In other words, rather than making pauses and looking for solutions, an AI agent will be able to observe people playing and assist them on the go. An easy question, such as “What should I do next?" will provide instant assistance without exiting the game.

It is unlikely that console platforms like PlayStation or Xbox will ever accept external AI layers, although Microsoft already tested their Copilots, while Sony patented an AI “ghost player.”
