Brandon Clarke, forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, has died at the age of 29, the team, the NBA and his agency confirmed on Tuesday.

Neither the Grizzlies nor Clarke’s agency, Priority Sports, released details about the cause of death.

However, ABC News reported that Los Angeles police sources said Clarke was found dead on Monday at a home in the San Fernando Valley following a possible drug overdose. S

Sources told the broadcaster narcotics were found at the scene and there were no signs of foul play.

The Grizzlies said they were “heartbroken by the tragic loss” of Clarke.

“Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten,” the team said in a statement.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver described Clarke as “a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit”.

Clarke spent his entire seven-year NBA career with Memphis after being drafted in 2019.

He previously played college basketball for Gonzaga University and San José State.
