The motorsport community is mourning the loss of the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch, who died on Thursday May 21, 2026.

Busch, 41, took his last breath after he was being hospitalized for a severe illness. The announcement of his demise was jointly issued by family, NASCAR, and Richard Childress.

“On behalf of the Busch family, everyone at Richard Childress Racing and all of NASCAR, we are devastated to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch," the statement read.

"Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch. A future Hall of Famer, Kyle was a rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation,” it further added.

But what's heartbreaking for the fans and the sport community is Busch’s finally winning message and post on social media, demonstrating the unpredictability of life.

His final win came just one week before his passing, where he dominated the Truck Series race at Dover.

In his final NASCAR win post interview, he talked about the finite nature of life and moments. In the interview, “Because you never know when your last one is," Busch said on May 15.

On May 18, Busch also tweeted a birthday message to his son Brexton, who was starting a racing journey of his own.

"Happy Birthday @brextonbusch!!! Your mom & I are so proud of who you’re turning out to be! You’re the best kid on & off the track, you amaze us every day. Keep doing what you’re doing and there is no limit to what you’ll accomplish! Love you buddy!" Busch wrote on X.

The users responded heartbreakingly. One user wrote, “Last post was him and his son, may god bless you and your family.”

Another user mourned, “This one hurts for the NASCAR community rest in paradise, Kyle.”

The third one wrote, “The man and his wife hosted a Gala just last night, raising $1.3 million for the children of Charlotte.. this is devastating and just unfair man.”
