RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026

A new English shrub rose named after David Beckham and a Saatchi Gallery garden inspired by Matisse’s The Dance are just a couple of highlights that the BBC will surely be lingering over at this year’s show. “Big John really thought in his mind he wasn’t going to get caught – he was invincible.” It’s the explosive final part of this real-life thriller about one of the most complex bombs the FBI has ever dealt with. Those who worked on the case recall what happened as 100 agents closed in on John Birges Sr as well as his former daughter-in-law, Kelli Cooper. HR

Destroyer (Karyn Kusama, 2018), 11.45pm, BBC Two

It is ironic that Nicole Kidman hiding her face behind layers of bad-skin makeup led to some of her most convincing film work in years. Karyn Kusama’s gripping crime thriller follows Erin Bell – alcoholic cop, bad mother – as she is forced to revisit a 17-year-old undercover FBI operation into a bank robbery that went wrong. The plot teases us with cause and effect, as the persistent Bell pursues escaped lead criminal Silas (Toby Kebbell) with little regard to procedure or personal safety. Simon Wardell
