Finnish wearable manufacturer Oura has unveiled the latest generation of its smart ring with the Oura Ring 5. According to the company, the device is the world’s smallest smart ring, offers expanded health features, and is launching shortly before the company’s planned IPO. The ring is available for pre-order now and will begin shipping on June 4.
More Compact, but Also More Costly
The Oura Ring 5 is 40 percent smaller than its predecessor, the Ring 4. Width and thickness have been significantly reduced, which the manufacturer says gives the ring the look and feel of an ordinary piece of jewelry. This was achieved through a complete redesign of the mechanical, electrical, optical, battery, and sensor architecture.
The device is made from hypoallergenic titanium, is water-resistant to 100 meters (IP68), and is available in sizes 6 through 13. In addition to the familiar colors Silver, Brushed Silver, Black, and Stealth, there are two new options: a revised Gold in a lighter tone and Deep Rose in a copper-toned rose gold.
The price has increased compared to the predecessor. While the Ring 4 started at $349, the Ring 5 starts at $399 for the Black and Silver colorways. The remaining color variants cost $499.

What the Ring 5 Can Do
Alongside the more compact design, Oura is focusing on improved sensors and new software features. The redesigned signal architecture is intended to deliver more accurate readings across a wider range of finger types and skin tones. Battery life has been slightly extended and now stands at six to nine days, compared to five to eight days for the Ring 4.
The most important new features include:
- Live Activity Tracking: Real-time display of pace, distance, and heart rate during workouts, including pairing with third-party heart rate monitors
- Health Radar: Background monitoring of biometric signals, including blood pressure signals and nighttime breathing monitoring
- Menopause Insights: A research-based questionnaire for tracking menopause symptoms and their impact on daily life
- Hormonal Contraception: Tailored cycle insights for users who use hormonal contraceptive methods
- On-Demand Doctor Consultation: Through a partnership with Counsel Health, US members can consult licensed physicians in the app for an additional fee
- Oura Ring 5 Charging Case: A portable aluminum charging case offering up to one month of additional battery life and wireless charging
Additionally, Oura is introducing a time-based data deletion feature that allows members to selectively delete data from specific time periods without losing their entire account history.
“Oura Ring 5 is the most significant leap in the history of smart rings. To make a product 40 percent smaller without sacrificing a single spark of accuracy, we had to rethink every assumption.” Holly Shelton, Chief Product Officer at Oura

Launch in the Shadow of the Planned IPO
The product announcement comes at a strategically significant moment. Oura recently filed a draft registration statement confidentially with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), officially preparing for its initial public offering (IPO). Specific details such as share count or price range have not yet been determined. The IPO is expected to take place following the completion of the SEC review process, subject to market conditions.
The company is on a strong growth trajectory. In October 2025, Oura raised $900 million in a funding round led by Fidelity Management and Research Company. The resulting valuation stands at approximately $11 billion.
The launch of the Ring 5 also coincides with a period of growing competition. Rivals such as RingConn and Ultrahuman offer subscription-free alternatives and are increasing pressure on Oura to innovate. Notably, the Ring 5 arrives just one and a half years after the Ring 4, whereas approximately three years passed between the Ring 3 and the Ring 4.
