Arsenal F.C. secured the Premier League title after Manchester City F.C. were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth, ending the north London club’s 22-year wait for the championship.
Arsenal, who finished runners-up in each of the previous three seasons, moved four points clear at the top of the table with one match remaining and officially clinched the title on Tuesday. The club will lift the trophy following its final game of the season against Crystal Palace F.C. at Selhurst Park on Sunday, News.Az reports, citing SANA.
Players and coaching staff watched Manchester City’s match together at Arsenal’s training ground, while supporters gathered outside Emirates Stadium before celebrating the result after the final whistle.
Club captain Declan Rice posted “It’s done” on social media following the title triumph. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton were among those congratulating the club.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also praised Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta, saying the team “deserve it.”
