The US Navy has awarded a contract worth approximately $746 million to Blackwater Management Group LLC, a small business based in Florida, to operate and maintain a fleet of specialized surveillance ships.
The agreement covers the management of seven vessels, including five Ocean Surveillance (T-AGOS) ships and two Missile Range Instrumentation (T-AGM) ships, News.Az reports, citing Defence-Blog.
These vessels are integral to the Military Sealift Command’s mission, providing critical support for underwater surveillance and tracking foreign submarine activities.
Under the terms of the contract, the company will be responsible for the full operational support of the fleet, including the provision of civilian crews, technical maintenance, and logistical management. The T-AGOS ships utilize sophisticated sonar arrays to detect and monitor undersea threats, while the T-AGM ships are designed to track missile launches and collect atmospheric data. This long-term deal includes a one-year base period with four additional option years, ensuring that these strategic maritime assets remain active in support of national defense and global maritime security.
