French quantum start-up Quobly has closed a €115m Series A round to accelerate its market debut planned for the end of the year.
The round was led by BPI France, SealSQ and STMicroelectronics, with participation from the European Innovation Council, Blast, and Air Liquide Venture Capital. Repeat investors included Innovacom, with the CEA, CNRS, Quantonation and Supernova Invest also holding shares.
Funding is expected to support R&D, industrialisation and scaling efforts, and international commercial expansion, the company said. The company plans to deploy its first silicon-based commercial quantum computer through the cloud by the end of 2026.
“This financing marks a transition from technology validation to industrial execution,” said Maud Vinet, the CEO and co-founder of Quobly.
“Over the past two years, we have demonstrated that silicon qubits can be developed within semiconductor manufacturing processes and integrated into a system architecture.
“Our objective is to make quantum computing deployable, scalable and usable within real industrial environments.”
Quobly called the Series A round a “key step” in its plans to industrial-scale quantum computing. Alloy Pioneer, the first computer in Quobly’s Alloy product line, is designed for early adopters in high-performance computing (HPC) and research environments, it said.
Alloy Pioneer is designed to integrate into existing HPC and data centre infrastructures, with compatible footprint, power supply and utilities requirements, enabling straightforward deployment, the company claimed.
The system will be accessible through the cloud in 2026, before deployment within HPC infrastructures in 2027.
The Series A round follows Quobly’s €19m seed phase from 2023 to 2025.
Early last month, France committed an additional €1bn investment to its quantum strategy, on top of the €2.3bn the country had already committed to quantum research since 2021.
Quobly’s approach to quantum computing takes a similar direction to Ireland’s Equal1, with both using established semiconductor manufacturing processes to address key challenges in scalability, yield and reproducibility.
Quobly leverages semiconductor-grade capabilities through strategic partnerships with industrial leaders including STMicroelectronics, Air Liquide, Soitec and Orano.
These collaborations, it said, accelerate the transfer of its quantum technologies into advanced manufacturing environments.
The company, formerly known as Siquance, was founded in 2022 in Grenoble, France, and has offices in Singapore and Canada.
