DART SERVICES ARE delayed in Dublin this afternoon, with some services operating approximately 28 minutes behind schedule.
Services between Lansdowne Road and Sandymount were suspended earlier when a vehicle struck a level crossing barrier at the Serpentine level crossing.
Maynooth, Northern and Phoenix Park tunnel commuter services, as well as Rosslare services, are to expect delays due to congestion on the line.
Last weekend, there was heavy demand for Dart services in Howth as the first of the summer sun made an appearance.
As well as the sunshine, Howth Maritime and Seafood Festival was taking place, adding to the crowds.
An Irish Rail spokesperson told The Journal that the estimated number of people who travelled to Howth by Dart over the weekend was 35,000.
Extra trains this weekend
Irish Rail will be running extra trains this weekend to serve a number of concerts and festivals in Dublin city.
Extra Northside Dart, Maynooth and Drogheda commuter services will run after concerts in St Anne’s Park this weekend.
The concerts receiving extra train services are Amble on Friday, CMAT on Saturday, and Snow Patrol on Sunday.
Extra Dart, Maynooth and Drogheda services will also be in place after Ireland play Qatar at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday.
For the Bord Bia Bloom festival in Phoenix Park, there will be extra Intercity services from Waterford to Dublin Heuston on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as extra services from Cork and Galway on Sunday.
Irish Rail is advising customers to pre-book services at the busiest times across the weekend, including for the duration of Bloom, which runs from Thursday to Monday.
Bloom is offering a free shuttle bus from Parkgate Street to the Bloom venue.
There will be a service running from Heuston to Kildare after Forbidden Fruit on both Saturday and Sunday.
