Elon Musk’s a Trillionaire. Here Are Other Shocking Numbe...
Nikki McCann Ramirez · 2026-06-13 · via Rolling Stone

The SpaceX founder became the world's first trillionaire — how else does he add up?

Elon Musk is officially the world’s first trillionaire. On Friday, SpaceX’s initial public offering, or IPO, shot up the valuation of the space exploration and AI company to an astronomical $1.77 trillion, the largest IPO and corporate valuation in history. Musk’s controlling share of the corporation’s stock pushed his already astronomical net worth of around $800 billion into the trillions.

It’s an almost unimaginable amount of money now under the control of the already wealthiest man on the planet. So to help visualize just how much Musk is worth, here are some points of comparison — and some other numbers that will define Musk’s career.

$1.1 trillion: The estimated net worth of Musk on June 12, 2026.

$1.85 million: The estimated lifetime earnings of the median American man.

$1.1 million: The estimated lifetime earnings of the median American woman.

$290 million: The amount Musk spent helping Trump win the 2024 election, per SEC filings.

14 million: The rough estimate of global deaths expected by 2030 as a result of Musk’s cut to foreign aid programs as head of DOGE, according to the medical journal The Lancet

12: Number of attempted SpaceX Starship launches

6: Number of SpaceX Starship launches that ended in failure.

$38 billion: The amount Musk’s companies have received in contracts, tax credits, and grants from the federal government between 2003 and 2025.

$332: The average amount an American family on the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program receives in aid per month.

$21.7 billon: Estimated amount of taxpayer funds wasted by Elon Musk’s DOGE operation.

$100 million: The combined estimated value of the seven residential properties Musk put on the market in 2020.

$100 million: The amount of affordable housing subsidies and assistance programs Musk eliminated as head of DOGE.

7: The number of women who sued Musk’s Fremont, California, Telsa factory alleging sexual harassment. (One case was settled under undisclosed terms; the cases of the six other women remain unresolved.)

Editor’s picks

104,000: Number of times Musk has posted on Twitter/X since he joined the website in 2009.

$2.1 billion: Estimated damages expected to be awarded to former Twitter investors after a jury found Musk liable for misleading shareholders during his purchase of the platform.

14: Number of Musk’s known children.

2: The number of ugly custody battles he’s had in his rush to produce as many children as possible. One with singer Grimes, and the other with “reformed” MAGA influencer and anti-trans writer Ashley St. Claire.

1: The number of Musk’s children who have openly disowned him. (Vivian Jenna Wilson, Musk’s trangender daughter from his first marriage with his first wife Justine Wilson, disavowed her father after he rejected her gender identity and publicly bashed her in interviews with right wingers.)

Trending Stories

$303,418: Average cost of raising a child in the United States from birth to age 18.

$20 million: The amount Musk was fined after settling a Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit accusing him of defrauding Tesla investors.
