Tom Holland’s Telemachus and Robert Pattinson’s Antinous face off in latest look at Christopher Nolan's epic

The new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey premiered Monday during The Late Show, where the director stopped by to talk about his IMAX take on the Greek mythology epic.

The latest preview shows more glimpses of Matt Damon’s Odysseus and his years-long journey to return to Ithaca, as well as a deeper look at the palace intrigue occurring at his home while Odysseus is away, notably the power struggle between Tom Holland’s Telemachus, son of Odysseus and Anne Hathaway’s Penelope, and Robert Pattinson’s Antinous, who seeks to claim power over Ithaca.

“You’re pining for some daddy you didn’t even know, like some sniveling bastard,” the villainous Antinous tells Telemachus in the trailer.

Elsewhere in the trailer, there are brief appearances by Charlize Theron’s Calypso, John Leguizamo’s Eumaeus, Jon Bernthal’s Menelaus, and the Cyclops monster that Odysseus and his men face on their trip back to Ithaca.

“No one can stand between me and home, not even the gods,” Damon’s Odysseus says in the trailer.

The Odyssey arrives in theaters on July 17. The film also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, Himesh Patel, Jovan Adepo, and Travis Scott.

Nolan discussed the film with Stephen Colbert during his 20-minute interview on The Late Show Monday. “This is a world where people saw gods in everything: So the thunder, the tides coming in, the winds blowing … that’s all evidence of divinity,” Nolan said of his take on Homer’s epic. “We’re trying to take the audience and put them in that world.”
