It’s somewhat surprising that it took this long, but the Criterion Collection announced this week that it will release the complete films of Stanley Kubrick on 4K UHD and Blu-ray.

The box set, due out on Oct. 20, includes all 13 of Kubrick’s feature films and three short films, plus hours of interviews, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes materials. Each film is restored in 4K, with the box set spanning a whopping 30 discs. As for the audio, each film features the original soundtracks with remastered 5.1 surround sound mixes.

The Complete Kubrick

Releases Oct. 20

Unsurprisingly, the collection won’t be cheap; it’s listed for $599.99, with a preorder price of $479.96 on Criterion’s site. It’s also available on Amazon, and it’s currently 30% off at Barnes & Noble.

The set also includes “rare photographs, artwork, and documents annotated by Kubrick himself,” according to the company.

Criterion has released some of Kubrick’s films before, including Paths of Glory, Spartacus, and The Killing, although this will be the first time that some of his most popular films, like A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket, get the Criterion treatment.

“A titan of cinema whose influence extends across visual art, philosophy, politics, technology, fashion, and beyond, Kubrick created an unparalleled string of masterpieces. Over the years, his body of work has been collected on home video only in partial form, never as a whole — until now,” wrote the distribution company in the announcement.

Kubrick was notable among auteurs for how deftly he handled different genres; The Shining is a hallmark of horror, Dr. Strangelove is one of the most darkly hilarious political satires, and 2001: A Space Odyssey is arguably the greatest science fiction film ever made.

Other director box sets from Criterion include Wes Anderson, Agnes Varda, John Singleton, and Akira Kurosawa. While best known for highlighting arthouse titles, foreign films, and classics, Criterion also distributes home releases of popular recent films, including KPop Demon Hunters.
