"Misconduct in public office is a crime that can take different forms, making this a complex investigation," police say in new update following Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest
British police are reportedly investigating allegations of sexual misconduct against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor following the arrest of the former royal in February.
Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew and brother of King Charles, was arrested on a charge of suspicion of misconduct in public office following the revelations in the then-recently released Epstein files.
While the exact nature of the accusation wasn’t revealed, it was reported that the charge was related to trade reports that Mountbatten-Windsor sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2010 while serving as a U.K. trade envoy.
However, the BBC reports that the investigation has now expanded to allegations of sexual misconduct, which include a report that Epstein sent a non-British woman to the former prince’s residence Royal Lodge in 2010. Police have reportedly been in contact with the woman and her lawyers.

“We encourage anyone with information to get in touch with us,” Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said in a statement. “Misconduct in public office is a crime that can take different forms, making this a complex investigation. There’s a number of aspects of alleged misconduct that the investigation is examining.”
Police have still not formally named Mountbatten-Windsor as a suspect, referring to him at the time of his February arrest simply as “a man in his sixties.” The former prince, who was stripped of his royal titles by King Charles, has denied all accusations of wrongdoing.
