The new short film also stars Kelce's former NFL teammate Beau Allen and wife Kylie Kelce

Jason Kelce is putting his acting chops on display (and his mug where the money is) as the star of new short film for Garage Beer, the viral American light beer brand co-owned by the former NFL star and his brother, Travis.

In a Western-themed clip dubbed “The Last True Cold One,” the former Super Bowl champ and Philadelphia Eagles center meets his match when he descends upon a scorching desert town in search of an ice-cold pour of Garage Beer. Known for its grab-and-go cans, the brand has just introduced bottles, but getting his hands on a bottle of Garage Beer proves difficult when Kelce runs into the local villain, played by former Eagles teammate Beau Allen.

“We don’t do cold,” Allen huffs, in true tough-guy fashion (though he may doth protest too much, judging by a salacious scene later in the film). Kelce is seemingly left to fight off Allen — and the locals — himself, until he meets the sultry town sheriff, played by his real-life wife Kylie. Together, they devise a plan to take down Allen and his henchman, while keeping their eyes on the prolific prize of that cold Garage Beer bottle.

The team at Garage Beer call Kelce their “creative madman,” and the New Heights podcaster says he tapped into his playful side for the new project, which he says embodies what the Garage Beer brand is all about.

“Beer is a product that is centered around having fun,” Kelce tells Rolling Stone. “From the beginning, as a team, we have really focused on how we can have fun in everything we do and in the content we produce. Everybody’s personalities shine through in the things we do, and I think that helps give Garage Beer its own personality and energy that feels authentic, and feels like a good time. And really, beer is about having a good time, laughing and enjoying the people you’re with.”

While Allen has appeared in Garage Beer spots before, including a memorable Super Bowl commercial this part February, the new spot is touted as his “biggest role yet.” Kelce says the former nose tackle really dug into his part as an obscene outlaw with a — wait for it — twisted ice fetish.

“Beau crushed this one, really just absolutely nailed his role,” Kelce says. “He always brings the best out of me, first of all, but it’s also been great seeing him get better each time we do one of these. He’s naturally a very funny person, quick witted, and has a vibe that makes everyone happier when he’s around. For all of these reasons, I loved being his teammate on the field, and it’s a complete joy to do anything with him now that we are retired.”

“The Last True Cold One” is Garage Beer’s third feature film, shot over a week in January at the famous Mescal Movie Set in Arizona, the location for Westerns like Tombstone, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and The Quick and the Dead, among others. Garage Beer says they were inspired by Kelce’s larger-than-life persona and “up for anything” attitude to bring the brand’s new bottles to life.

“With Kelce, we’ve always used these films as a way to do something bigger than a traditional ad, but this is the first time we’re tying one directly to a new product,” says the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, Corey Smale. “So we treated it like a real moment. Bottles are a huge step for us, and instead of explaining that in a normal way, we made a Western about it. That seemed to make the most sense.”

The new Garage Beer bottles come in a 355 ml size and are available as a classic lager or flavored with lime. Designed to be “crisp and crushable,” the light beer comes in at just 4% ABV and 95 calories.

“Garage Beer in bottles is the natural next step for us,” CEO Andy Sauer explains to Rolling Stone. “As a super premium product, it’s important to both us and our drinkers that we have bottles. We’ve been looking forward to bringing these to market, and the timing couldn’t be better with summer right around the corner.”

And while Kelce says he was initially “hesitant about the stubby bottle” versus a long-neck bottle, he now concedes that “stubby was the right choice” based on feedback he’s received from fans and friends alike.

The retired NFL star has kept busy since playing his last game in 2024, with his podcast (co-hosted by brother Travis), his investment in Garage Beer, and partnerships with everyone from Marriott Bonvoy to Amazon, the latter of which hosts a “Kelce Clubhouse” storefront selling New Heights podcast merch and fan gear.

The 38-year-old says his businesses and busy schedule are all the more reason he’s partial to a nice cold beer to help kick back when he’s not working.

“Man, I mean, to be clear, I’ll reach for the closest one in arm’s reach,” he says, when asked whether he prefers a can or bottle. “Tailgating [or] out and about, I prefer the can. Watching a game on the couch, seated at a bar, [I prefer a] bottle. It feels like what’s supposed to be in your hand talking to a stranger on a barstool. It just feels right.”
