Bella Kay to Unleash 'My Reckless Abandon' Debut Album Th...

The rising singer-songwriter will release the album via Atlantic Records on July 12 featuring her breakthrough single "iloveitiloveitiloveit"

Earlier this year, Bella Kay told Rolling Stone, “If I have a choice between a good decision and a bad decision, but the bad decision is fun, I’m probably gonna choose the bad decision.” The singer-songwriter’s statement doubles as the thesis for her upcoming debut album, My Reckless Abandon, out July 12 via Atlantic Records.

The 20-year-old’s first full-length LP follows the release of her breakthrough single, “iloveitiloveitiloveit,” which arrived in January. The track is one of 13 that will appear on the album, which was executive produced by Idarose. “It’s talking a little bit about my past, what it was like growing up, and talking a little bit about struggling with mental health and struggling with body issues,” Kay previously shared about My Reckless Abandon. “In the vein of relationship things, it also explores so many thought processes of this thing that’s happening. It’s a ‘will they, won’t they’ type of vibe, which I think is exciting.”

My Reckless Abandon will arrive just in time for Kay’s debut performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago this July. In November, the young artist will join Noah Kahan on the road for 10 dates across England and Ireland. Next year, she’ll introduce her daring take on pop to an even more apt audience as she opens for Gracie Abrams across four dates in Washington, D.C. and Montreal.

Last month, Kay expanded her catalog with the three-track Are You Mad at Me EP. The trio of songs included the previously released single “Promise?” along with two new songs, “Say It Say” and “Stop,” both of which were produced by Idarose. “She gets the thing about me that I think people find fresh, which is my [attitude of], ‘Eh, it’s bad for me. I don’t care,’” Kay told Rolling Stone about her production partner. “I’ll say this crazy thing and she’s like, ‘Duh.’ Other people would be like, ‘Huh? What do you mean by that?’”
