Staying Dry and Clean at Festivals: Samsung’s WashPoint Z...
Samsung News · 2026-06-17 · via Samsung Global Newsroom

Samsung Electronics brought a highly appreciated WashPoint zone to the Rock for People music festival, which took place from June 10 to 14 at the Hradec Králové airport. Due to the rainy weather, the zone became immensely popular, giving festival-goers the opportunity to wash and dry muddy clothes and soaked sleeping bags directly on the festival grounds. Outside the area with washing machines and dryers, visitors could try out the new Galaxy phones or the SmartThings app in action.

A festival-goer shows off his muddy trousers before loading them into a washer at Samsung Electronic's WashPoint.

Located right next to the festival campsite, the zone offered a total of seven washer and dryer sets. Drying was by far the most sought-after service, especially on Thursday when relentless rain hit the venue and some attendees had their tents flooded. Due to overwhelming demand, the zone even opened an hour earlier that day to handle as much laundry as possible.

“It comes as no surprise that what festival-goers appreciated most was the opportunity to dry their sleeping bags and blankets, which, in their own words, literally saved the entire festival for them. A few people even told us that if we hadn’t brought the WashPoint zone, they would have packed up and gone home,” says Veronika Schieblová, a festival attendee and spokesperson for Samsung Czech and Slovak.

Throughout the festival, a total of 357 visitors used the WashPoint services. The station handled 314 washing and 336 drying cycles. In 90% of cases, the machines were used to remove mud and dirt, while the remaining 10% consisted of typical food or drink stains. The washers and dryers thus passed a major stress test — with flying colors and without a single hitch.

The demand for clean and dry clothes was truly enormous. At peak times, as many as 40 people were waiting in line, with some festival-goers waiting for as long as two hours. Despite the wait, their reactions were incredibly positive and full of gratitude. To make the wait more enjoyable, visitors could head to the upper floor of the two-story structure, which featured a spacious chill-out area.

The line in front of the WashPoint quickly transformed into a lively community hub. “To pass the time, people danced, sang, and simply had fun. Towards the end of the festival, visitors even shortened their wait in line by bringing their own chairs and small tables to play various card games or just read,” adds Veronika Schieblová.

Festival-goers are keeping the energy high and dancing in line while waiting for their clothes to wash and dry.

In addition to relaxing, people could participate in two exciting competitions and experience firsthand the seamless connectivity of Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem. The first competition, Galaxy Quest, introduced people to the Galaxy ecosystem in a fun way; 289 contestants participated. The second contest introduced the contestants to a Samsung refrigerator with a camera inside together with the SmartThings app which also sparked genuine interest.

Samsung will donate the proceeds from the WashPoint zone’s operations to charity through its partner, ProFancy. In addition to providing practical assistance on-site, this initiative extends joy and support far beyond the festival grounds.

The success of this year’s Samsung WashPoint zone clearly demonstrated that modern technology has a definitive place even in a demanding festival environment. Samsung has once again proven its ability to deliver meaningful, practical innovations that genuinely make consumers’ lives easier.
