During HPE Discover Las Vegas this June 2026, we introduced a major advancement in the latest HPE Morpheus Software 9.0: A new suite of AI capabilities designed to help IT teams simplify and automate hybrid cloud operations at scale.

This release brings AI directly into the core of HPE Morpheus Software, enabling IT operators, cloud administrators, and DevOps practitioners to interact with infrastructure through natural language, run approved actions through governed automation, and improve operational consistency across environments.

In this blog, we explore the challenges enterprises face in operating complex hybrid cloud environments, introduce the key AI components in HPE Morpheus such as Orchestration Copilot and AI agents, and illustrate how they integrate seamlessly into enterprise IT workflows. We also highlight how organizations can leverage HPE Morpheus to simplify operations, accelerate implementation, and reduce manual effort in managing their hybrid cloud environments.

The challenge of hybrid cloud complexity

Hybrid cloud has become the standard operating model for modern enterprises. With it comes a growing set of operational challenges.

Organizations are managing workloads across multiple platforms, enforcing policies across distributed systems, and coordinating between infrastructure, networking, and security teams. This results in fragmented visibility, manual workflows, and slower response times.

Even with mature platforms, many operational processes such as provisioning, troubleshooting, and cost optimization still rely heavily on human intervention. Scaling these processes while maintaining control, compliance, and consistency remains a significant challenge for IT leaders.

Introducing agentic AI in HPE Morpheus Software 9.0

With this release, HPE Morpheus brings together conversational interaction, AI-driven reasoning, and policy-governed automation into a unified experience, with bring-your-own-model flexibility and an open foundation for extensibility.

These capabilities are designed to integrate directly into existing workflows while enhancing how teams manage, troubleshoot, and optimize hybrid cloud environments.

At the core of this evolution are five key components:

  • Orchestration Copilot
  • AI agents
  • Agentic AI actions and automation workflows
  • Model flexibility (bring your own model—LLM)
  • MCP servers

HPE Morpheus Software with Orchestration Copilot: A natural language interface to your infrastructure

Orchestration Copilot introduces a conversational interface that allows users to interact with the platform using natural language.

Instead of navigating multiple dashboards or manually implementing workflows, users can simply describe what they want to achieve.

Examples of real prompts:

Allocate an IP address from pool prod-network-east-01
Generate a cost analysis report for all environments in the last 30 days
Show health status of all production environments

Orchestration Copilot interprets these inputs, maps them to orchestrated workflows, and initiates actions through the platform.

The screenshot below shows the Orchestration Copilot chat interface with sample queries.

AI agents and agentic AI actions: From intent to implementation

Behind Orchestration Copilot, AI agents provide the reasoning layer that understands user intent and translates it into actionable steps.

AI agents analyze the request, break it into steps, and determine the appropriate orchestration processes required. These may involve APIs, infrastructure services accessed through MCP server, or policy checks.

Implementation is handled by agentic AI actions which are configurable tasks defined by administrators included in the Description of an agent.

The screenshot below shows the product page where administrators can define AI agents, configure tasks in the Description, and integrate MCP servers and large language models (LLM) of choice.

Extensibility and integration by design

HPE Morpheus connects with more than 90 native integrations across commonly used enterprise tools, enabling AI workflows to operate across systems such as monitoring, ticketing, networking, and infrastructure management platforms, for example ServiceNow, Citrix, Jira, and more.

HPE Morpheus also gets a built-in MCP server that exposes its full set of infrastructure and orchestration capabilities as standardized, AI-accessible services.

By integrating with third-party MCP servers, HPE Morpheus enables AI agents to exchange context and run actions across systems, creating a unified control plane and minimizing the need for fragmented, tool-specific agents.

How it works inside the product

A typical interaction flow within HPE Morpheus Software is straightforward:

  1. A user interacts with Orchestration Copilot through the chat interface
  2. The request is interpreted by the selected AI agent
  3. The agent maps the request to a set of orchestration tasks
  4. A corresponding agentic AI action is triggered
  5. If required, approvals are requested based on role-based access control (RBAC) policies
  6. The action is implemented through MCP-backed infrastructure

This process is fully transparent within the UI, allowing users to track requests, approvals, and outcomes in real time.

What this means for your organization

The introduction of AI capabilities in HPE Morpheus Software 9.0 enables IT organizations to transition from manual, reactive operations to intelligent, automated workflows.

Tasks that previously required multiple tools, scripts, and approvals can now be ran through a unified interface.

For example, allocating an IP address to a virtual machine (VM) can now be initiated through the Orchestration Copilot using natural language, with AI agents automatically selecting available addresses from configured pools, reserving them, and completing the network configuration as part of the provisioning workflow.

Similarly, enterprises can use the Orchestration Copilot to request a cost optimization report, where AI agents aggregate data across cloud and on-prem environments and generate actionable insights to reduce waste and reduce costs.

AI in HPE Morpheus enables a variety of use cases for automating and optimizing hybrid cloud operations at scale.

Getting started

Teams can quickly get started with Orchestration Copilot, create AI agents, and integrate Morpheus MCP server, while bringing their own LLM for control and flexibility, all directly within the Morpheus interface. Visit the documentation page here to get started.
