Lego turned heads at this year’s CES thanks to the surprise unveiling of Smart Bricks, the toy brand’s first foray into smart tech (and its biggest innovation in decades). The first three sets in the new line are, unsurprisingly, Star Wars-themed and went up for preorder on Lego’s site after their CES debut in January, with the first shipments going out in March.

Now, however, the sets are more accessible than ever, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. On the heels of Star Wars Day 2026, all three sets are finally available on Amazon. Translation: you’ll now only have to wait two days to get in on the action.
Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter Set and Luke’s Red Five X-Wing went up right after the initial preorder period on Lego’s site. However, the grail of the trinity, Palpatine’s Throne Room Duel & A-Wing Set, was conspicuously absent. We just got word that it’s no longer the case. And by word, I mean, I was compulsively shopping for more Legos and happened to stumble across the new addition.
At $160, it’s the priciest of the inaugural Smart Bricks sets, but you get what you pay for. The set comes with three minifigures: SMART Luke Skywalker, SMART Emperor Palpatine, and SMART Darth Vader, and five smart tags for the A-wing, throne, Death Star turret, and Lightsaber duels.
The set is pretty future-proof, too; it features a built-in, deactivated microphone for potential future play features. It also includes two smart bricks and a charger compatible with other Smart Play sets, which is particularly noteworthy. Lego has since released new Smart Play sets (like this Millennium Falcon) that aren’t considered “all-in-one.” In other words, they don’t include the requisite Smart Bricks to use the set’s Smart Play functionality. Palpatine’s Throne Room is one of three all-in-one sets to include Smart Bricks (along with the aforementioned Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter and Luke’s Red Five X-Wing), so it’s a big picture kind of investment. And as of right now, Smart Bricks aren’t sold separately—the two extra Smart Bricks are a game-changer.
We’re still in the infancy of the Smart Bricks era, but the first three sets are massively important. They’re also pretty noteworthy from a collector’s standpoint, too—getting the “first” of anything always holds collector value. And right now, it’s easier than ever to get your hands on a set. Thanks, Amazon.
