I’m always scoping out pocket knife deals during Amazon Prime Day to add to my rotation of EDC gear. Typically I’m looking for big names like Benchmade or Civivi, but lately I’m loving CJRB Cutlery. The new (to me) brand has a variety of folding and fixed blades which rival some of my favorite knives from better-known brands. CJRB pocket knives range from rugged and tactical, to sleek and minimalist. They even have unique designs like the wacky Nanner pocket knife, with its upswing blade.
The brand stands out for its affordability on handsome knives, though it deserves equal attention for its build quality and materials. I was skeptical when I first came across CJRB, but had seen them highly praised on Reddit and other EDC forums. The TLDR of the majority of comments—can knives this cheap actually be good? The answer is a resounding yes.
Right now, the Hectare is just $40 and is a great dupe of the super popular Benchmade Bugout. It uses the reliable Crossbar locking mechanism (a.k.a an axis lock) to secure the blade when it’s in use. The blade is hefty enough for a weekend outdoors but sleek enough to carry everyday.
I’ve had the Locust for about a year now and it’s held up quite well. Granted, I have a desk job and am not particularly hard on my pocket knives. Still I don’t doubt it for a second. As I mentioned, CJRB pays attention to materials. The Locust uses AR-RPM9 steel for edge retention and corrosion resistance. Blade steels can get too in the weeds, but just know CJRB uses reliable steel combos that’ll hold up for the majority of people.
