There’s a reason we ranked the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 as the best value power station: It delivers a lot of power and offers versatile output options for a low price—without shorting you on quality. That value proposition gets even better on Amazon Prime Day, when the price drops from $799 to $400, which is close to the lowest price we’ve seen.
Power stations run the gamut, from the very compact versions meant only to recharge your mobile devices, to the very large models, which are designed to power your entire home during an emergency. The 1000 v2 is on the smaller side, but powerful enough to keep several devices running at once for several hours. It’s a great companion for a weekend of camping or keeping the refrigerator going for several hours during a blackout.
| Ports | 3 x 120 V AC; 2 x USB-C; 1 x USB-A; 1 x 12 V DC |
| Output | 1,500 W (3,000 W surge) |
| Capacity | 1,070 Wh |
| Weight | 23.8 lb |
The Explorer 1000 v2 outputs both AC and DC power through three standard 120-volt AC outlets, two USB-C ports (30- and 100-watt), one USB-A port (18-watt), and one 12-volt DC outlet. It can output up to 1,500 watts with a battery capacity of 1,070 watt-hours, which is more than some other power stations offer at this price point.
The performance is pretty reliable, too. When we ran it through our tests, we powered a 25-cubic-foot refrigerator for 18 hours, 22 minutes by itself, which is a good runtime if you’re stuck without electricity during a storm. We separately tested it with a constant load of 475 watts (that’s a little less than a small coffee maker) to test the capacity, and we were able to run it for 1 hour and 57 minutes. In our experience, that’s good performance for a power station of this size.
There are several options to recharge it. The simplest is to plug it into the wall, which will take it from zero to 100 percent in under two hours, but if you’re short on time, you can use the fast-charge feature, which will do it in just under an hour. If AC is not available, you can connect it to a portable solar panel (there’s a great Prime Day deal on a panel bundle, too) or charge it using a 12-volt connection from a vehicle.
This isn’t the type of power station you should expect to run during a days-long power outage, but it offers great performance and versatility for the price. The sale on the Jackery 1000 v2 power station is one of the better values you’ll find on Prime Day that won’t steer you wrong when you need it the most.
