If you’ve been eyeing the newly released Lego Smart Bricks or the always popular Grogu in a Pram set, you might want to grab them sooner rather than later. Why? Lego sets, particularly the hottest ones, don’t stick around forever. They’re usually only available at standard retailers for a few years, at most, before they’re retired—and then you’re stuck shelling out way more money for them on the resale market.
Not to mention that some sets are super popular or made in smaller quantities (especially the larger, pricier, or exclusive sets), so they’re only available in limited supply. That’s where Amazon’s Hard-to-Find Lego section comes in: It offers an easy way to discover which sets are low in stock, so you can snag them before they’re gone forever. Its latest example: the coveted Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set. I haven’t been able to find this one in stores, period.
Sure, there’s a chance you get lucky and find a rare set on the shelf at your local shop, but given the constant shuffle of new releases from Lego, it’s a gamble. If you’re a Lego collector or a fan of a certain franchise (like Star Wars), don’t wait: All the retired or low-stock items below are still available on Amazon—but they might not be for long!

That way, you’ll know you have a dwindling amount of time to purchase them at retail value. The rare items include everything from Star Wars collaborations to Creator Expert sets. Pro tip: Many of the sets about to disappear are builds designed for younger kids.
Right now, there are several Star Wars sets, including the 25th-anniversary Millennium Falcon Set designed for adult builders 18+. There’s also an entry-level X-Wing fighter, or the more complicated Mandalorian’s Razor Crest ship. Plus, Lego just released a brand-new Grogu, complete with his pram, but the original version is still available if you need The Child in all his Lego forms.
The popular Back to the Future DeLorean set has frequently been out of stock over the last year or so, so if it’s on your wish list, grab it before it disappears forever. (Car lovers will appreciate the Technic Lamborghini Huracan, which has moving wheels and parts.) For adults who want a challenge, there’s the Land Rover Defender model, which is meant to be displayed.
The Forest Animal 3-in-1 Creator set also offers great value as a gift for tweens or teens, as it converts into three poseable animals (a fox, a squirrel, or an owl) using the same bricks.
