The CBSE’s new OSM introduced this year for Class 12 board examinations has created a lot of confusion and concern among students and parents.

From mix-up in terms of someone else’s answer sheets uploaded against their roll numbers to blurred scanned pages and from missing scanned pages of their answer sheets to discrepancies in scoring, a large number of students and parents expressed concerns regarding the OSM system.

One of the cases that had gone viral on social involved a student named Vedant Shrivastava, who alleged that the Physics answer sheet shared by CBSE as part of the re-evaluation process had discrepancies in terms of his handwriting.

After the case got widespread attention, CBSE, through its official X account, responded: “Dear Vedant, Thank you for bringing your concern regarding your Physics answer book to our attention. Upon review, the matter has been examined, and the correct copy of your answer book has been sent to your registered email address. Necessary action for updating your result, as applicable, is also being undertaken accordingly. We appreciate your patience and assure you of our continued support.”

“I urge CBSE to look into this answer sheet exchange issue more clearly and deeply for all the other students who are facing this same issue as me,” Shrivastava stated on X.

The Board also acknowledged an error in another case involving a student named Sanjana, who had complained that the scanned copy of her Chemistry answer sheet received from CBSE did not match her handwriting.

A student posted a video online to show her marksheet, in which all the answers that were correct had been marked incorrect.

Meanwhile, more parents and students alleged various concerns, including discrepancies in scoring of the answer sheets or missing supplementary sheets in the scanned answer sheets received from the Board. A parent whom businessline contacted said she had only used social media to highlight her child’s distress over the anomalies in the answer sheet.

Delhi-based advocate Vineet Jindal, who is advising a large number of students on this issue, told businessline: “I have been contacted by more than 50 students, outlining various issues, including low scores, missing pages in the scanned answer sheets, scanned answer sheets being blurred and also answer sheets not being evaluated accurately or are left blank. In fact, some students could not even apply for re-evaluation process to get access to scanned copy from CBSE as they were unable to access the official website.”
